The windscreen wiper only works when the
ignition is switched on and the front bonnet is
closed.

switched on or the rain sensor is activated.
The intermittent windscreen wiping is
dependent on the speed of the vehicle.
The faster the circulation, the more
frequently the windscreen wiper will wipe

the lever pressed down for a longer time,
the sweep is accelerated.
Pull the lever to switch on the automatic
wiper sweep. The Cli- matronic switches on
the air recirculation for approx. 30 seconds
to prevent the smell of washer fluid from
penetrating into the cabin.

wiping intervals (vehicles without rain and
light sensor) or the sensitivity of the rain
and light sensor.
Before driving off and before switching on the
ignition, check the following to prevent damage to
the glass, wiper blades and wiper motor:

The wiper lever is in the basic position.
•
It has removed or eliminated any snow and ice
on the windscreen wipers and crystals.
•
You have carefully removed any frozen window
cleaning brushes from the window. Volks- wagen
recommends a de-icing spray for this purpose.
Do not switch on the wiper when the glass is dry.
Dry wiping of the wiper blades can damage the
glass.
When the vehicle is stopped with the
windscreen wiper switched on, the
windscreen wiper switches on
temporarily at the sweep level immediately below.
Some settings can be saved in the user
accounts of the personalisation function.
The user account is automatically changed when
the user account is changed → p. 32.
In winter, the service position of the
windscreen wipers may be useful in order to
be able to
better lift the windscreen wiper blades of the
windscreen wiper when leaving the vehicle parked.
