following
The following warnings and safety precautions
must be observed:
•
Before carrying out any work on the battery
12 volts, switch off the ignition and disconnect all
the
electrical consumers, and disconnect the
negative cable of this battery.
•
Keep children away from the 12-volt battery
and the 12-volt battery at all times.
•
Always wear eye protection and protective
gloves.
•
Battery electrolyte is very aggressive. It can
cause skin burns and blindness. When handling
the 12-volt battery, protect yourself only from
the
The hands, arms and face are particularly
vulnerable to acid splashes.
•
Do not smoke while carrying out work and
never carry out work in the vicinity of naked
flames or sparks.
•
Avoid sparks caused by electrostatic
discharges as well as when handling cables
and electrical devices.
•
Never short-circuit the battery terminals.
•
Never use 12-volt batteries that are
damaged. They could explode. If the 12-volt
battery is damaged, replace it immediately.
mind.
•
Never use a 12-volt battery that is frozen.
When the battery is discharged, it may freeze
at near freezing temperatures.
The battery must be kept below 0 °C (+32 °F).
If the 12-volt battery is frozen, replace it
immediately.

test and correct these settings when the battery is
sufficiently charged.

the 12-volt bat- tery.
Do not expose the 12-volt battery to direct sunlight
for a prolonged period of time.
•
Ultraviolet rays can damage the battery casing.
If the vehicle is not to be used for a long period of
time, protect the 12-volt battery from frost.
•
The battery may freeze and, as a result, be
irreparably damaged.
After starting the engine with a deeply
discharged or re-discharged 12-volt battery,
the engine will be switched off.
If the system settings (time, faith- cha,
personalised comfort settings and pro- grammes)
have been changed, or after using the start-up aid,
some of the system settings (time, faith- cha,
personalised comfort settings and pro- grammes)
may have been misadjusted or deleted. Com-

The electrolyte level of the 12-volt battery should
be checked regularly at high mileage, in countries
with hot climates and in the case of old batteries.
The battery does not require any further
maintenance.
The electrolyte level of 12-volt batteries with the
inscription cannot be checked for technical
reasons.
