In order to ensure the correct and safe operation
of the air conditioner, only suitably qualified
personnel are authorised to carry out
maintenance work on the air conditioner.

Protection of components
Never repair the air conditioning evaporator
with parts removed from end-of-life vehicles or
from recycling plants,
or replace it with such parts.
USA AND CANADA. USA and Canada: Air
conditioner evaporator parts must be certified
and identified according to SAE J2842
standards.

Infotainment system and an-
tenas
The antennas for the infotainment system are
mounted at different locations in the vehicle:
on the inner side of the window;
on the inner side of the rear side windows;
on the inner side of the windscreen;
on the roof of the vehicle.
The antennae integrated on the inner side of the
chrys- talis are made of thin metallic wires.
The antennae on the inner side of the glass can be
damaged by rubbing objects or by the use of
corrosive or acid-containing products.
Do not stick adhesives on top of metal wires,
e.g. in the bezel area.
Never clean the antennae with corrosive
products.

If an infotainment system is retrofitted, it must be
compatible with the antenna amplifier fitted as
standard in the vehicle. Otherwise, the amplifier
may be damaged.
Component protection allows the lawful assembly
or replacement of components and control units
by a specialist workshop.
In the following situations, component protection
prevents components supplied ex-factory from being
used without restriction outside the vehicle:
Fitting to other vehicles, e.g. after theft.
Use of components outside the vehicle.
If a message about component protection is
displayed in the instrument cluster display or in the
infotainment system display, please contact a
specialist workshop.
Disposal of used batteries and
electronic devices
It is not permitted to dispose of vehicle keys, radio
remote controls and batteries in household waste.
This is indicated by the
symbol .
Hand in electronic devices and batteries to the
appropriate collection points according to local
regulations.

USA AND CANADA. USA and Canada: Batteries for
vehicle keys and remote controls by remote
control are not required.

Volkswagen recommends having the batteries
