If the lane departure warning assistant
detects a malfunction, it may be switched off
automatically.

Speed range
Lane Departure Warning Assistant is ready to
regulate at speeds above 60 km/h.
(35 mph) approx. if it detects lane marking lines
(active status).

Request for driver intervention
If there is no steering wheel movement, the
system prompts you to drive in the centre of your
lane with an indication on the instrument panel
display and audible warnings.
If you do not react to this request, the system goes
into a passive state.
In addition, regardless of steering wheel
movements, if the corrective steering intervention
takes a long time, the system prompts you to steer
in the centre of your lane with an indication on the
instrument cluster display and acoustic warnings.
Steering wheel vibration
The following situations can lead to steering wheel
vibration:

The system stops detecting the lane while in-
terving by correcting the steering too much.
In the infotainment system, you can also select the
option
Vibration
or
Steering wheel vibration in the
assistants menu. In
this case, if the vehicle
crosses a
detected lane marking line while the lane
departure warning assistant is active, the steering
wheel vibrates.
Lane delimitation line detected. The system is
not regulating.
Lane demarcation line detected. The system
regulates as an aid on the side shown.
No lane boundary line detected. The system is
not regulating.
Depending on the driving situation in question
and the version of the instrument cluster, the
following indicator lights are displayed:

An indicator light comes on in the instrument
cluster. In addition, a message to this effect
appears on the instrument cluster display.

The camera's field of view is dirty. Lim-

The visibility of the camera is impaired by
weather conditions, e.g. snow, or by residues of
cleaning agent or coatings. Clean the
windscreen → p. 287.
If no indicator lamp lights up, the system is not
ready for control (passive state) or is switched off.
If the indicator is switched on, the system
temporarily switches to passive mode to allow
manual lane changes.
This is also the case if the driver firmly rectifies
the corrective steering intervention.

The visibility of the camera is impaired by
accessories or stickers. Leave the area around the
camera's field of view free.
—
The camera has become maladjusted or damaged, e.g.,
because of damage to the windscreen. Check for
visible damage → p. 293.

There is a fault or defect. Switch off the
engine and restart it.
—
If the problem persists, contact a specialised
workshop.
