of the vehicle. Personal data, such as name,
gender, age or location of the accident, are not
recorded at any time. However, third parties, such
as law enforcement authorities, can link the
contents of the black box to other data sources
using specific means and associate them with a
person during the investigation of an accident.
In order to retrieve the data from the black box, it is
necessary to have special equipment, access to the
vehicle's legally required diagnostic interface ("on-
board diagnostics") and for the ignition to be
switched on.
Volkswagen will not access, consult or process the
data in the black box unless the owner of the
vehicle (or in the case of leasing, the lessor) gives
his or her consent or unless there are contractual
or statutory provisions to this effect.
Due to the legal obligation to monitor the product,
Volkswagen is authorised to use the data for field
analyses and for the purposes of research and
improving the quality of the vehicle safety systems.
For research purposes, Volkswagen makes the data
available to third parties in an anonymised form, i.e.
without the possibility of drawing conclusions about
the individual vehicle, the vehicle owner or the
lessee of the vehicle in the case of leasing.
Stickers and signs
Stickers and signs with important information for
the operation of the vehicle are factory-fitted on the
front end of the vehicle and on other vehicle
components.

Never remove these stickers and signs and
keep them legible.

If a vehicle part bearing a sticker or lettering is
replaced, the specialist workshop shall affix an
identical sticker or lettering to the new parts in
the same place.
Safety certificate
A safety certificate affixed to the driver's door
mountings states that at the time of production all
the necessary safety standards and the
requirements of the road safety authorities of the
country concerned were met. The month and year
of production and the chassis number of the vehicle
may also be shown. Please observe the information
in the instruction manual.
Improper use of the vehicle may cause damage to
the vehicle.

Air conditioning fluids
Refrigerating agent of the air conditioner
There is a sticker in the engine compartment with
information on the type and quantity of refrigerant
used in the vehicle's air conditioning system. The
sticker is located on the front of the engine
compartment near the coolant filler neck.
Warning: Only suitably qualified personnel
are authorised to carry out maintenance
work on the air conditioner.

Ensure that all components are disposed of
correctly and never fit the vehicle with

Climate control lubricating oil
The air conditioner contains up to 210 ml (7 oz) of
lubricating oil. The exact specifications and
quantities of the lubricating oil for the air conditioner
can be found in the following table.
Improper use of the vehicle increases the risk of
