Mounting the towing eye tra- sera
NOTICE
clockwise → fig. 164, → . Use a suitable
object with which the towing eye can be screwed
fully and securely into the towing eye on its
mounting.
— After towing, unscrew the eyebolt clockwise
with a suitable object.
— Place the cover in the corresponding recess
and press it inwards until it clicks into place.
— Clean the towing eye if necessary and put it back
in the luggage compartment with the other on-
board tools.
The towing eye must always be fully and securely
screwed into the housing. Otherwise it could come
out of the housing during towing or towing.

Mounting the rear towing eye
— Remove the towing eye of the on-board tools
from the luggage compartment → page 226.
— Press on the lower part of the cover in the
direction of the arrow to remove it.

— If necessary, remove the cover and store it in
the vehicle.
— Screw the towing eye into the mounting by
turning it anticlockwise as far as possible → fig.
166, → . Use a suitable object with which you
can screw the towing eye fully and securely into
the towing eye in its housing.
— After towing, unscrew the eyebolt clockwise
with a suitable object.
— Place the cover in the corresponding recess
and press it inwards until it clicks into place.
— Clean the towing eye if necessary and put it back
in the luggage compartment with the other on-
board tools.

The towing eye must always be screwed
completely and securely into the mounting.
Otherwise it could come out of the housing.
during towing start-up or towing.
