The parking exit assistant monitors cross traffic
when reversing out of a parking space or
manoeuvring.
Parking with Reversing Assistant

Position the vehicle in front of the parking
space → fig. 131. 2 .

Engage reverse gear.

Slowly back up while turning the steering wheel
so that the green side lines enter the selected
parking space. The green lines must coincide
with the side boundary lines of the parking space

Stop the vehicle when the red horizontal line has
reached the rear boundary.

Operation

The parking exit assistant is operated by radar
sensors mounted in the rear bumper.
The system detects objects approaching or moving
from behind or to the sides → fig. 132 and warns
the driver of possible obstacles with an acoustic
warning signal and a message → fig. 133 , → .
The infotainment system can show the area where
the obstacle is located → fig. 133.

If the driver does not react, automatic brake
intervention may occur → page 158.
If the parking assistance is switched off, no
warnings can be issued to the driver. The parking
assistance will also be temporarily deactivated.
The intelligent technology of parking systems
cannot overcome the limits imposed by the laws
of physics and only works within the limits of the
laws of physics.
