Check and replace
If the brakes fail or their braking power is
reduced, the brake fluid level may be too low or
the fluid itself may be too old or inadequate.
Have the brake system and brake fluid level
checked regularly!
Have the brake fluid changed regularly.
If the brake fluid is old and the brakes are used
a lot, vapour bubbles may form. Bubbles
reduce the capacity of the brake fluid.
The braking distances are considerably
increased and can lead to the failure of the
entire braking system.
Ensure that the correct brake fluid is used. Only
use brake fluid that expressly complies with
VW 501 14.
The use of any other type of brake fluid or a
fluid that is not of the highest quality may
impair the performance of the brakes.

Brake fluid will damage vehicle paintwork, plastic
parts and tyres if it comes into contact with them.

The 12-volt battery is part of the electrical system
and is responsible for supplying power to the
vehicle's safety-relevant systems. The 12-volt
battery is checked and, if necessary, replaced as
part of maintenance work.
Only carry out work on the electrical system
yourself if you are familiar with the required
operations and the generally applicable safety
precautions and if you have the appropriate tools,
equipment and operating fluids at your disposal.
Improperly performed work can result in serious
injuries . Have all work carried out by a
specialist workshop. Volkswagen recommends that
this work be carried out by a Volkswagen dealer.

compartment.
