Introduction to the topic
After changing a wheel
Clean the on-board tools and place them back in
the foam insert in the luggage compartment.
Store the changed wheel safely in the luggage
compartment.
Have the tightening torque of the wheel bolts
checked immediately.
→ p. 273.
Have the damaged wheel replaced as soon as
possible.
Do not use tyre sealant in the
following cases:
If the rim is damaged.
If the outside temperature is below -20 °C (-
4 °F).
If the cut or puncture in the tyre is more than 4
mm in diameter.
If the tyre pressure was too low or the tyre was
underinflated.
If the expiry date of the tyre sealant bottle has
expired.
If any foreign body stuck in the tyre has been
removed.
In combination with puncture-proof tyres.
Puncture-resistant tyres are identified by the
lettering "Seal" on the outside.
After changing a wheel, the tyre control
system control light shall be illuminated.
The corresponding LED may light up, indicating a
malfunction in the system → p. 258.
Puncture repair
kit
With the puncture repair kit, tyre damage up to
approx. 4 mm in diameter caused by foreign objects
or punctures can be effectively sealed temporarily. Do
not remove the
object stuck in the tyre, e.g. a screw
or
nail!
After the sealant has been inserted into the tyre,
always check the tyre pressure again after about 10
minutes of driving and adjust it.
If the vehicle has more than one damaged tyre,
seek the assistance of qualified personnel. The re-
puncture kit is only intended to seal one tyre.
Only use the puncture repair kit if the vehicle is
properly parked and if you are familiar with the
necessary operations and safety measures! If this
is not the case, seek the assistance of qualified
personnel.
If the wheel bolts are tightened to the wrong
torque or handled improperly, loss of control of
the vehicle could result in an accident and serious
injury.
Always keep the wheel bolts and the threaded
holes of the wheel hubs clean, free of oil and
grease. The bolts must be able to
unscrew and unscrew easily and de-.
The bolts shall be tightened to the prescribed
torque.
WARNING
Using the puncture repair kit can be dangerous,
especially if the tyre is filled at the edge of the
road. To reduce the risk of serious injury, please
note the following:
Stop the vehicle as soon as possible and safely.
Park the vehicle at a safe distance from road
traffic so that the vehicle can be refilled.

Make sure the ground is flat and firm.
All occupants, especially children, should
always stand a safe distance away from the
work area.
Switch on hazard warning flashers to warn
other road users.
Use the puncture repair kit only if you are
familiar with the necessary operations. If this is
not the case, seek the assistance of specialised
personnel.

emergency to get to the nearest specialist
workshop.
Have the repaired tyre replaced immediately
with the puncture repair kit.
The sealant is harmful to health and should it
come into contact with the skin, it must be
cleaned immediately.
Keep the puncture repair kit out of the reach
of children.
Never use a cat, even if you are
approved for the vehicle.
