If you press the emergency call button for
unattended calls, interrupt the call immediately:
- Press the emergency call button again until the
indicator light remains green.
Automatic activation of an emergency call
The automatic emergency call is only activated if
the ignition is switched on.
Immediately after the airbags or seatbelt
pretensioners are triggered, a connection to the
central call centre is established automatically.
The Volkswagen emergency call can not be
interrupted by pressing the same button. The
automatic emergency call cannot be interrupted by
pressing the emergency call button .
If the questions from the Volkswagen emergency call
centre are not answered, the corresponding
assistance measures are automatically triggered.
Integrated battery
The integrated battery ensures that the Emergency
Call Service remains available for some time even
if the 12-volt battery has been disconnected or
has failed.
If the integrated battery becomes discharged or
malfunctions, a message will be shown on the
instrument panel display . When the corresponding
message is displayed, contact a specialist workshop
immediately and have the battery replaced.
Have the battery checked by a specialised
workshop every 3 years or so.
and, if necessary, their replacement.
Data transmission
When an emergency call is made, the available data
is forwarded to the Volkswagen emergency call
centre so that the necessary assistance measures
can be determined.
Among others, the following data are sent:
— Current position of the vehicle
— Vehicle identification number
— Vehicle propulsion type
— Type of vehicle.
Depending on the equipment and the
country in question, data transmission can

be influenced by privacy settings
→ The functionality of the Emergency Call Service
can only be guaranteed if data transmission is
possible.
The operation of the Emergency Call Service
may be limited if it is set up
subsequently an infotainment system.
Diversion to the emergency number 112
In some situations, the Emergency Call Service is
limited or cannot be executed. If possible, a call is
made to the general emergency number 112. In this
case, only a voice connection is established and no
data, e.g. on the vehicle or location, is transmitted.
