Interrupt brake intervention of the braking
function when manoeuvring
The brake intervention of the parking aid's braking
function during manoeuvring can be interrupted by
pressing the accelerator pedal → .
If the automatic brake intervention is
excessive, e.g. when driving off-road,
switch off the parking system.
If the manoeuvring braking function of the
parking aid has braked the vehicle, the
parking aid will be activated.
If the vehicle is in the same direction of travel for
5 metres, it remains inactive or becomes active
again after changing gear or the gear selector
position.
After an emergency braking of the parking
exit assistant, they have to pass the parking
brake.
10 seconds before another automatic brake
intervention can take place.
— Some noise sources, such as a pneumatic
hammer or a paved road, interfere with the
ultrasound signal.
— The vehicle has some kind of damage in the
sensor or camera area, e.g. as a result of a
parking collision.
— The detection zone of the sensors or the field of
vision of the camera is blocked by an
accessory, e.g. a bicycle carrier system.
— Modifications have been made to the paintwork
or structural modifications in the area of the
sensors or the camera, e.g. at the front of the
vehicle or on the running gear.
Also note the messages shown in the instrument
cluster display and in the infotainment system.
Sensor or camera not visible or parking system
switched off
If a sensor becomes faulty, that sensor zone is
permanently switched off. The affected sensor
zone can be displayed in the infotainment system
with the symbol . In this case, the parking system
is switched off completely.
If the parking aid is not working properly, a
continuous beep sounds for a few seconds when it is
switched on. If this is the case, a message is
displayed in the instrument cluster display.
— Check for any of the causes listed above.
— Once the source of the problem has been
eliminated, you can switch the system back on.
— If the problem persists, contact a specialised
workshop.

Problems and solutions
The parking system behaves differently than
expected.
There may be several causes:
— System requirements are not met

— The sensors or the camera are dirty or iced →
p. 289.
— The camera lens is not clean and the camera
image is not clear → p. 289.
Do not allow the automatic brake intervention of
parking systems to induce you to take risks that
compromise safety. In some situations,
automatic brake intervention may only work to a
limited extent or not at all. Collisions with
obstacles can cause injury to persons and damage
to the vehicle. The system cannot replace the
driver's attention.

Be vigilant and do not rely exclusively on
parking systems.
•
Always be prepared to brake and control the
steering yourself.
•
Do not take any safety risks.
•
Follow the warnings and driving instructions of
the parking systems.
