Use anti-friction synthetic motor oil
Fully synthetic, low-viscosity engine oils reduce the
frictional resistance in the engine and distribute
better and faster, especially when the engine is
cold-starting.
Remove unnecessary weight
If the luggage compartment is emptied of e.g. snow
chains or unused child seats before setting off,
consumption can be reduced.
To keep the aerodynamic drag of the vehicle as low
as possible, remove external accessories, such as a
ski rack, bicycle rack or roof rack, when they are no
longer required.
Saving
energy
The alternator, which is driven by the engine,
generates energy for comfort consumers such as
the air conditioning, ventilation or heated
windscreen and window. Saving energy is easy,
e.g.:

When outside temperatures are high, ventilate
the passenger compartment before setting off
and drive for a while with the windows open.
Switch on the air conditioning then, but not
before.

Switch off the comfort consumers when they
have fulfilled their task.
Never let the vehicle roll downhill with the selector
lever in the neutral position N. The gearbox is not
lubricated and may be damaged.
