Belt tensioner
Belt tensioner pulley check
If the tensioner is not damaged, check if the rele-
vant bearing has an excessive clearance.
•
CHECK THAT PULLEYS TURN FREELY
(WITHOUT JAMMING).
•
CHECK THAT THE BELT CONTACT SUR-
FACE IS NOT DAMAGED.
•
REPLACE THE BELT TENSIONER PULLEY, IF
NECESSARY.
NEVER WASH THE BELT TENSIONER PULLEY
Timing belt tensioner spring check
1. Check the unloaded spring length.
Characteristic
Unloaded length:
not exceeding 46.5 mm
2. Check the spring tension when the spring is
tensioned up to the length corresponding to the
working position.

1. Measure the pulley outside diameter, using a gauge.
